i used to have a stats counter on my homepage years ago. it got up to over 10,000 "hits" but then the company that had written the code went under and i decided to abandon such egodriven numbers. i've recently added a new one and i have to say, i love seeing it go up. ----- we saw Grizzly Man last weekend, one of the best movies / documentaries in years. the story, the footage, the music, timothy treadwell, all are incredible. herzog's commentary is at times intrusive yet he sort of pulls it off. it's remarkable how much one person can achieve. we all have so much potential for good or bad. and what is it about the number 13? i think it's a fated symbol. meaning, anything that happens around it was meant to be. ----- last thought for this post: intimacy takes time.

i had a wonderfilled birthday in maine. it's been a long time. highlights included having "happy birthday" sung to me by 3 generations of intelligent, charming, kind men with boomer (awesome dog) in the background -- canoeing at night on a mirror-still inlet off the ocean, watching the moon set, seeing the many stars get brighter, having jeff discover the water was filled w/ luminescent algae/fish. they glowed depending on how the water was touched -- eating fresh lobster and shrimp and haddock and lots of icecream -- having his grandmother say "you look happy" -- feeling appreciated -- going sailing for the first time (on my birthday) in a tiny boat with jeff doing all the masterful work thru 2 foot waves while picking up speed and not capsizing.
