So virtually anyone except the residents of Manhattan who want to shop at a Wal-Mart — if you build one in Times Square, 70% of Americans would be five miles from one — can shop at Wal-Mart. And the first Wal-Mart store, the first Target store, the first Kmart store opened the same year: 1962.

7 years ago my dad died. time has gone by very quickly though a part of me hasn't moved on and never will move on. most of the time i don't think of my dad anymore. it's too sad and hard given i can't see him again. i'd love to hang out, let him know what's been going on, laugh and have fun. i love him so much.

35! thanks to jeff and many friends, saturday night was a great party which has fully sated my need to celebrate. mellow dinner last night at paprika was perfect. and as tobyGirl said, i sure do know how to happily accept gifts and eat desserts. thank you thank you all.

walking to the subway this morning i was surprised to see yellow leaves on the ground. it's autumn already! i lost 3 months this summer and i'm not ready for the chill, the snow, the winter.
