i have so many variations of usernames and passwords, i'm shocked i can log on to anything. i wish there was a service which would go around the web and create one global set for easy, sweat free use.

"Earth and Mars are rapidly converging. On August 27, 2004--the date of closest approach--the two worlds will be 56 million km apart... Much has been made of the fact that the August 27th encounter with Mars is the closest in some 60,000 years. Neanderthals were the last to observe Mars so favorably placed. This is true. It's also a bit of hype. Mars and Earth have been almost this close many times in recent history. Some examples: Aug. 23, 1924; Aug. 18, 1845; Aug. 13, 1766. In each case Mars and Earth were approximately 56 million km apart."

the blackout of 2004: around 4.10pm yesterday all the electricity went off at the office. annoying fire security guard man on the PA system (is that the word) kept repeating "there is no cause for alarm. we'll be getting power back w/in the next few minutes". after 5 minutes 2 co-workers and i got out. we walked thru crowded streets - no signals, only police diverting traffic. we went to the west side highway. heard various radio reports along the way. of course i thought it was a terrorist attack, esp. when finding out it was all over the northern US and canada. it took me 3.5 hours to walk home. then 24 flights of stairs. i was nervous. i was tired. but i wanted to make it home to mom and the tobster. no phone contact. steven's cell was blocked.

today after almost 24 hours we're back. water. water flowing. man.

this weekend: birthday rooftop DJ party tomorrow night. good-bye party at cool bar tomorrow night as well. either tomorrow or sunday i have to go in to the office and do at least 4-5 hours' worth of work. ----- if only people in this society would conserve energy. the big malls and corporations, office buildings, everybody... the waste is so huge. and who pays? mostly the little guy. insane. i may start taking the stairs in this building on a regular basis. i bet i would get in shape.

it was a great weekend. it flowed nicely. some outside lincoln center free blues music, a glass of red wine in the east village, ___, then brunch, nap, tv, and sunday night blues. my to-do list isn't getting shorter. this is not good.
